Sea World and the Dinosaur State Park

This past weekend we took our annual trip to Sea World San Antonio and the Dinosaur State Park. We drove down to San Antonio on Thursday afternoon and stayed with one of my best friends and her family.

We hit Sea World on Friday where we got to feed the dolphins, catch the beluga whale and Shamu shows, check out the sharks and manta rays, ride on the Shamu roller coaster, and have our first taste of cotton candy. The weather was perfect and the kids had a great time!

On Saturday we hit the Sea World water park first, picniced near the water ski show, fed the alligators, took in another beluga whale show, and got completely soaked at the Shamu show ~ another wonderful Sea World trip!

We left San Antonio on Sunday morning and headed north to DFW. We stopped for lunch at the Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glenrose. "Dinosaur Valley State Park contains some of the best preserved dinosaur tracks in the world." After lunch we walked across the Paluxy River to the side of the riverbed with the dinosaur tracks. We saw Pleurocelus, Acrocanthosaurus, and Iguanodon tracks and tail imprints in the limestone. The kids liked the prints but really enjoyed the trek across the river the best!

Our First Family Camping Trip

We decided that it was time for our kids to sleep outdoors so this past weekend we took our first family camping trip. We wanted to make sure the kids had a good time so we called up some of our best friends to come along. After a bit a internet surfing we decided to set up tent at Hickory Creek Park. Hickory Creek Park is on the southwestern portion of Lake Lewisville. It's a great campground for a first camping trip and fairly close to our house. We camped on lot P2 on one of the ten primitive camping sites.

We got there mid Saturday morning with all of our gear. After walking 300 yards three times to get all of our necessary gear to the site, we set up our new tent and got settled in.

Little Miss loved playing in our friend's tent with her friend and "skipping" (read that as throwing) rocks into the lake like Daddy. Little Man had a blast playing T-ball with his buddy and eating his s'mores. And we surely can't forget to mention the fun that the kids had playing with their glow sticks. The kids had a GREAT time!

Ryan and I loved it as well. Ryan got to set up the tent, skip rocks on the lake, and play with the kids. I got to chat with friends, take numerous trips to the ever so lovely "pit bathroom", and help the kids make s'mores. All in all it was a fabulous trip and we were sad to make the trek back to the van and go home!

And so it begins...

Our life always hectic, our schedule packed
No time to make scrapbooks, I just don’t have the knack

Time passes so quickly with these two of our own
If we don’t pay attention, we’ll look up and they’re grown

We wanted a way to remember these days
Each smile, every laugh, every giggle, all the play

A Blog – someone told me – is the way that is best
Write each week and post pictures – none of that scrapbooking mess :)

So here is our life, written down, we’re letting you in
Please enjoy each of the postings…. And so it begins
